Harbor Signal provides research views, not a managed investment account. Read the reasoning, measurement method, and limitations together.

The research service

Harbor Signal is a weekly institutional research bulletin published by Emile Behrtel, trading as Harbor Light Research. It combines business analysis, valuation, dated buy and sell research views, and subsequent updates for investment managers, institutional investors, and family offices.

The research is general and is not tailored to a recipient's holdings, objectives, financial circumstances, restrictions, taxes, or liquidity needs. Recipients conduct their own due diligence and retain responsibility for investment decisions and execution. Subscription scope and permitted use are governed by a separate written agreement.

What Harbor does and does not do

Harbor provides research, not brokerage, custody, trade execution, or discretionary portfolio management. A research signal is an opinion at publication, not an instruction to a broker or evidence that a client traded. Website material is not an offer to sell a security or a guarantee of investment results.

These descriptions do not determine registration, licensing, fiduciary, or other legal obligations. Those obligations depend on actual activities and applicable law; this notice does not waive them.

Understanding the research record

The record measures individual research signals using stated reference prices, recorded dividends, and sale or valuation dates. It is unaudited and is not an actual client account, an allocated portfolio, or a return that an investor necessarily could have achieved.

Repeated buy signals in one company count separately. They are not independent investments for statistical purposes. Each signal receives equal weight in the summary regardless of company concentration, capital required, or practical portfolio weights. The hit rate measures positive reference-price outcomes; it does not establish risk-adjusted performance or an investment edge.

Median returns are cumulative over differing holding periods, not annual portfolio returns. Unrealised results remain exposed to price changes. Figures include recorded pre-tax dividends and do not deduct subscription fees, trading costs, spreads, or investor-specific taxes. Currency translation can materially affect US-dollar results. Consult the record's methodology for the calculation conventions, quote dates, and other limitations.

The public record retains dated research views. Price quotes refresh on weekdays when validated data is available; each quote date is shown separately from the website publication date. New positions and subsequent changes to research signals are disclosed with a one-quarter delay to protect the value of the research for current subscribers. Historical outcomes, including losses, do not predict future results.

Investment risk and uncertainty

Investments can lose value, including the entire capital committed. Business, valuation, liquidity, market, currency, and concentration risks can materially affect outcomes. Prices may move before a recipient can act, and a stated reference price may not be available for execution.

Valuations and scenarios depend on assumptions. Actual earnings, cash flows, prices, and events may differ materially. No research process assures positive returns or outperformance.

Sources and changing views

Analysis may draw on public filings, company statements, third-party information, and estimates. Sources can be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or revised. Opinions reflect the information available at their stated date and can change. A weekly bulletin does not promise immediate alerts on every event or continuous coverage of every security.

Interests and conflicts

Harbor, its owner, clients, or related persons may hold or trade securities discussed in the research. Their interests and actions may differ from those of a reader. Relevant conflicts should be considered alongside disclosures in the applicable bulletin and subscription documentation.
